Life Coaching versus Counselling?

Life Coaching is about helping people reach their fullest potential – helping them get from where they are …. to where they want to be.  For most people that means building confidence, self-esteem, reaching their goals or creating more balance and happiness in their lives and feeling more fulfilled.  It’s about creating their dream lives.
Counselling is available to those with more serious issues like severe anxiety, depression, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), past neglect/abuse, personal crisis such as an illness or divorce.  Counselling is designed to address these serious issues and help people lead a more normal and productive life or to get back on track.

Why Life Coaching for Kids ?

Just like a soccer coach helps kids develop the skills, confidence and ability to thrive on the soccer field, or a dance instructor or coach helps improve dancing techniques, a WISDOM Coach helps kids develop the skills, confidence and ability to thrive in life!  Children will be equipped with the needed skills from a young age;so when they reach the difficult teen years, they will feel empowered.

Is Life Coaching not the same thing as parenting ?

Life Coaching goes beyond the traditional parenting roles of moral and character development and beyond how to treat others and learn how to behave. Seeking help for your child does not mean you are an “ineffective parent”. 
Life Coaching for kids is about mind set development and it targets the roots of the thought patterns holding kids back.  Coaching empowers kids througha specific set of skills and wisdom, which they can use throughout childhood, teens and the rest of their lives.

What are the benefits of Life Coaching for Kids ?

Coaching helps kids develop resilience skills so kids can bounce back and pick themselves up after disappointments or changes in life.
Coaching helps kids develop self-esteem from the “inside out” so they can base their self-esteem on who they are, rather than on what they do or who they know.
Coaching also helps kids learn to believe in themselves and build self-confidence.  Kids learn to move through fear so they can stretch out of their comfort zone, create courage, and reach for their dreams!
Coaching helps kids develop their own “inner compass” so kids learn how to think for themselves and make good decisions and stand up against peer pressure.
At last but not least, children learn to live life with intention versus drifting through life without direction.  They will create an empowered way of thinking that will help develop a vision for their life in the current phase of their life.

Why Stories ?

Coaching adults and children is different because of the difference in brain development.  Kids have not yet developed the critical reasoning skills adults have. Through storytelling, children learn skills in an effective way because of the following reasons:
 • Stories give another perspective, a deeper understanding, and are a great connection tool
 • Stories stimulate multiple centres of the brain with the result being a deeper learning
 • Stories are a great way to allow kids to get in touch with thoughts and feelings without putting them on the spot
 • Stories allow kids to “learn without lecture”
 • Stories are a wonderful refresher tool and are simply more FUN!
